IPL will raise profile of game in India: Rahul Dravid

Bangalore: Former India captain Rahul Dravid sees the IPL tournament as an opportunity to raise the profile of cricket and make it more popular in the country.
Dravid, who is leading the Vijay Mallya-owned Bangalore Royal Challengers team, said the event would raise the profile of the game.
"It will bring along new people to the stadia..Venues", he told reporters, adding he expected crowds to support one-day games and Test cricket.
About the T20 game, he said, "It's exciting, something new. Having the opportunity to be part of something like this since inception..I am not dismissive about it. I have embraced it," Dravid said.
The skipper of "Men in Red" also appealed to local fans to come and support his team in tomorrow's inaugural match against Kolkata Knight Riders here.
